The follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei, offers an absorbing samurai journey with a deeply customizable cinematic experience. Through various visual and audio modes, players can shape the adventure to their liking. As unveiled during the July 10th State of Play, the game features multiple cinematic options that enrich its expansive world.

Designed to match individual preferences, Sucker Punch Productions Creative Directors Jason Connell and Nate Fox explained, "We wanted Ghost of Yōtei to feel like stepping into your favorite classic samurai movie." Players can select between English dialogue without subtitles (Standard), English with subtitles (Subtitled), or authentic Japanese dialogue with subtitles (Samurai Cinema) for full cultural immersion.

Deepening the samurai film experience, Sucker Punch again collaborates with the estate of legendary director Akira Kurosawa, reintroducing Kurosawa Mode. This distinctive setting mimics the iconic black-and-white aesthetic of Kurosawa’s films, complete with film grain, a custom audio filter, and heightened wind effects.

While Kurosawa Mode appeared in the previous game, Ghost of Yōtei introduces two new cinematic filters from other masters of the samurai genre.

Miike Mode, developed with Takashi Miike (director of 13 Assassins), shifts the combat camera closer to protagonist Atsu for a gritty, intense feel, complete with mud and blood effects. Producer Shinichirō Watanabe (Samurai Champloo) contributes Watanabe Mode, which layers original lo-fi tracks over exploration and battle sequences.

A beloved feature also returns in this sequel. Photo Mode allows players to capture stunning shots anywhere in the game's scenic world. Customization includes color grading, time of day, weather, character expressions, wind behavior, and particle effects like drifting bamboo or autumn leaves, helping create that perfect screenshot.

Together with the new cinematic modes, these features deepen the immersion for new players and series veterans alike.
