Remedy has released a frank statement recognizing that "not all aspects have gone smoothly" with the launch of its multiplayer Control spin-off FBC: Firebreak, while detailing planned improvements for the coming weeks.

Since its June 17 release, FBC: Firebreak has garnered a "mixed" rating on Steam. Describing the launch as both "thrilling and anxiety-inducing," Remedy acknowledged receiving clear player feedback and admitted: "Certain features clearly need refinement, and we're committed to making those improvements."

"We're implementing immediate enhancements while others require more comprehensive solutions. We'll maintain transparent communication throughout this process.

"We know you expect concrete actions," the statement continued. "Here's how we plan to enhance your FBC: Firebreak experience moving forward."

The team identified key issues with the introductory experience, noting that FBC: Firebreak's opening suffers from confusing onboarding systems, unclear objectives, and underwhelming initial weapon progression where "early-game weapons feel underpowered and high-tier unlocks require excessive grinding."

Accordingly, Remedy is prioritizing intuitive onboarding, UI clarity, and streamlined Job access - removing the prerequisite of completing two Clearance Levels and granting new players immediate three-zone Hot Fix Job access. Progression and gear acquisition will also accelerate.

These changes represent the first wave of updates, with additional improvements being evaluated based on ongoing community input.

IGN's preliminary review noted: "Despite occasional narrative gaps, FBC: Firebreak delivers enjoyable monster encounters within Remedy's brilliantly bizarre bureaucratic world. Further testing will determine the full potential of this chaotic co-op experience."

Remedy has confirmed long-term support including two free Job additions in 2025, with more content planned for 2026. While cosmetic purchases will be available, they won't affect gameplay, and the developer has ruled out time-limited content or daily login requirements.

The studio remains busy with multiple projects alongside FBC: Firebreak, including Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes.
