Supercell's new MOBA RTS, Squad Busters, has achieved impressive early results, boasting over 40 million installs and $24 million in net revenue within its first month. The game saw particularly strong performance in the United States, followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey, and South Korea.
However, these figures fall short of Supercell's previous successes. Compared to Brawl Stars' $43 million in its first month (2018) and Clash Royale's staggering $115 million (2016), Squad Busters' performance is considerably lower. Furthermore, install numbers have declined significantly since launch, peaking at 30 million in the first week and dropping below five million by the end of the month.
This underperformance raises concerns about potential Supercell fatigue among mobile gamers. The game, while well-received, occupies a similar niche to Supercell's existing titles. For context, Honkai Star Rail generated a remarkable $190 million in its first month, highlighting the disparity.
While Squad Busters shows promise, its early performance raises questions about the long-term prospects and whether the market is becoming saturated with Supercell's style of game. Only time will tell if the game can overcome this initial hurdle.
