REPO Development Updates

Overcharge Overhaul

During the recent open beta for REPO's upcoming update, the developers at Semiwork took note of valuable player feedback, particularly concerning the Overcharge mechanic. This feature empowers players to strategically counter enemies by picking them up and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, it comes with a twist: an overcharge meter that, when filled, causes the player to explode.

Originally, the Overcharge mechanic was accessible from the game's outset, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. Moreover, they're planning to introduce new difficulty-enhancing mechanics every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and beyond), with Overcharge serving as the inaugural challenge in this escalating series.

These mechanics are not just about ramping up the challenge; they're deeply intertwined with the game's lore. As Semiwork explains, "So this system will also be tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this, and we will share more details in the future."

Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking

In a unique approach to gather direct feedback, Semiwork's developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, joined random matches during the open beta. This hands-on interaction allowed them to engage with the community and understand firsthand what players enjoyed about the new additions to the game.

Sundstrom shared his experience, saying, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."

With the wealth of feedback received, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO further. Players can anticipate more exciting updates on the horizon, as the developers have promised to keep the community informed. To stay updated with the latest on R.E.P.O., be sure to check out our related articles!
