What's next for Boba Fett? The legendary Star Wars character hasn't appeared since his standalone series, The Book of Boba Fett, concluded in February 2022. While the Disney+ show proved divisive among fans—with some criticizing its softer portrayal of the iconic bounty hunter—it's hard to imagine this marks the end for Fett.
Three years later, hopes for The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 seem increasingly distant. Lucasfilm hasn't signaled any plans for continuation, leaving next year's The Mandalorian & Grogu film as the most likely venue for his live-action return. With The Mandalorian Season 4's status still unconfirmed, fan speculation continues about potential cameos.
Temuera Morrison's future as Boba Fett remains unclear. Recent comments from the actor himself suggest no concrete developments are underway.
During interviews promoting his new film Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), the 64-year-old New Zealand actor expressed disappointment about not reprising the role post-series.
"Where is The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? I hear about Ahsoka Season 2 and think—what about mine?" Morrison questioned.
He reportedly pitched Lucasfilm on appearing in Ahsoka Season 2—even suggesting playing Captain Rex—highlighting his versatility across multiple clone characters.
After encountering Star Wars creative leads Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau recently, Morrison hinted at vague responses about Boba Fett's future: "They were cryptic—just gave noncommittal murmurs."
The actor humorously compared his situation to "being preserved like canned peaches—set aside to age beautifully."

"That's exactly how it feels," Morrison continued. "Like I'm being saved for something special—marinating until the timing's perfect."
The actor might simply be playing coy—Lucasfilm famously guards surprises tightly, as demonstrated by Mark Hamill's unannounced Mandalorian appearance.
However, Morrison previously attributed Boba Fett's absence to his show's mixed reception. At Fan Expo Chicago 2024, he noted Disney hadn't approached him for either The Mandalorian & Grogu or a series continuation.
The poorly received series—which blended Fett's Sarlacc survival story with Mandalorian subplots—reportedly cooled Disney's enthusiasm for the character. "The show's reaction definitely affected Boba's standing," Morrison observed last year. Whether anything has changed remains uncertain.
Originally portraying Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, Morrison later returned as clone son Boba Fett. He's openly expressed interest in continuing the role, even suggesting Boba Fett deserves Mandalorian-style screen time.
