Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge as its new flagship smartphone during the May Unpacked event. While maintaining core similarities with the Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025, its sleeker profile gives it a distinctive advantage.

Slimmer Yet Powerful

The Galaxy S25 Edge shares nearly identical specifications with its Ultra counterpart, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and impressive 200MP camera system. What sets it apart is its ultra-thin 5.8mm chassis – a significant reduction from the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 8.2mm thickness. This streamlined design also results in a lighter build, tipping the scales at just 163g.

Remarkably, the device sports the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the standard Galaxy S25, despite matching most specifications of the larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Durability Concerns Addressed

Samsung emphasizes the Edge's resilience with upgraded Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection – surpassing even the Ultra model's Gorilla Glass Armor 2. While drop resistance has improved, the bigger question remains how well the slender device will withstand everyday pressures like being pocketed.

AI Capabilities Continue to Evolve

The Edge inherits Samsung's advanced "Mobile AI" suite, first introduced with the Galaxy S24 and further refined throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite enables substantial on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy protections. While many third-party AI apps still require cloud connectivity, Samsung's native features – including intelligent notification summaries and news article briefs – shine with local execution.

Availability and Pricing

The Galaxy S25 Edge is now available for pre-order in three premium titanium finishes: Silver, Jet Black, and Icyblue. Pricing starts at $1,099 for the 256GB variant, with the 512GB model priced at $1,219. Samsung stakes its reputation on this slender device's durability – consumers will soon determine if this bold claim holds true.
