Star Wars Game Unveils Intriguing Newcomer

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles introduces a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A newly released trailer showcases Binks wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only new addition; Aspyr has unveiled ten new playable characters, with more promised. The updated Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000, aims to recapture the nostalgia of the Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace era. Beyond new characters, enhancements include customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.

The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some fans may have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque portrayal, the game features him using a staff. Jar Jar Binks will be available when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd; pre-orders are currently open.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the roster extends beyond these ten characters, with further announcements expected. The variety includes iconic figures like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside several droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard demonstrates a diverse range of playable options.

With the release date fast approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new characters in action. Aspyr's past successes, such as the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter re-release, offer hope for a faithful and enhanced version of Jedi Power Battles that satisfies long-time fans.
