Playable, But Requires Configuration

Silent Hill f Steam Deck Compatible, But Not Quite Verified

According to Valve's official testing, Silent Hill f is playable on the Steam Deck. However, it hasn't been classified as "verified" because some setup is needed to ensure flawless performance on the handheld. For a game to earn the verified status, it must run smoothly with the device's built-in controls and screen, plus meet Valve's standards for input, display quality, smooth experience, and system compatibility.

The results indicate that all features in Silent Hill f are accessible using the standard controller setup, and the game displays Steam Deck controller icons. Still, some in-game text appears small and may be hard to read. Players will also have to tweak settings manually to get the best performance out of the Steam Deck.

This marks a notable upgrade over Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was not supported on the Steam Deck—even after patches intended to improve its compatibility. Konami hasn't announced an official release date for Silent Hill f yet, which means the development team has time to further optimize the experience.

PC System Requirements

Last month, Konami listed Silent Hill f's PC system requirements on the game's Steam store page. This information helps estimate how well it may run on the Steam Deck. Below is the complete table for the minimum and recommended specifications.

For the minimum settings, an NVIDIA GTX 1070 is required to run the game at 720p and 30fps with performance-oriented graphics settings. Given the Steam Deck's GPU capabilities, players should anticipate a performance drop compared to Silent Hill f's baseline PC specs. Playing on the Deck's built-in screen at 720p may be acceptable, but if connected to an HD TV, any visual downgrade becomes more obvious. Konami also recommends installing the game on an SSD.

For the recommended settings, players can choose between Performance mode targeting 60fps or Quality mode targeting 30fps. Both options require an SSD.

During the recent Silent Hill Transmission on March 13, fans got a fresh look at the upcoming title. Silent Hill f is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
