Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his innovative AI life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering players a deeply personal gaming experience.

A Game Built on Memories

Wright's appearance on BreakthroughT1D's Twitch channel, a platform dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Type 1 diabetes research, provided a valuable insight into Proxi's core mechanics. The game allows players to input their real-life memories as text, which are then transformed into animated scenes within a unique 3D environment.

Players can customize these scenes using in-game assets, creating a personalized representation of their memories. Each memory, referred to as a "mem," contributes to the game's AI learning process, expanding the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D space composed of hexagons.

This mind world becomes populated with "Proxies" representing friends and family, allowing for the interconnectedness of memories and relationships. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, accurately reflecting the context and individuals involved. Remarkably, these Proxies are even exportable to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox!

The goal of Proxi is to create a magical connection between memories and their animated counterparts, providing players with a deeply personal and engaging experience. Wright's focus on this personalized approach stems from his belief that games benefit from prioritizing player self-expression. As he humorously noted, "the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
