The Witcher's Latest Animated Adventure
A Coastal Conflict on the Continent
According to Netflix Tudum, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep premieres February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.
The story unfolds in a coastal village where a centuries-long conflict between humans and merfolk compels a Continental kingdom to enlist a Witcher. This time, Geralt faces a unique challenge, trading the usual monsters for a battle against merpeople.
Returning to voice Geralt is Doug Cockle. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.
Sapkowski acts as creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penned the screenplay. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.
A Story Set Within Witcher Season 1
The film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of The Witcher's first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident, Geralt is hired to resolve a monstrous threat near the coast.
The location is likely situated between Redania and Temeria, potentially Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as suggested by "A Little Sacrifice." However, the extent to which the film adheres to the source material remains to be seen.
