Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over eight million units in just three days, making it the fastest Capcom title to ever achieve this milestone.

According to Capcom, Monster Hunter Wilds has gotten off to an exceptionally strong start, significantly outpacing the five million copies shipped by 2018's Monster Hunter World and the four million shipped by Monster Hunter Rise in 2021.

This impressive performance was somewhat expected, as Monster Hunter Wilds skyrocketed past one million concurrent players on Steam during its launch weekend, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077 to become the 7th most-played game of all time on the platform. The game's popularity also helped Steam break its own record by exceeding 40 million concurrent users for the first time.

In our review of Monster Hunter Wilds, we noted that it "skillfully refines the series' more challenging aspects with clever design choices, resulting in highly entertaining combat, though some may find it lacks significant difficulty."

Regarding the wider Monster Hunter franchise, Capcom announced that the series, which launched in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, has now sold more than 108 million units as of December 31, 2024.
