Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Boasts Impressive Performance on Consoles

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) is shaping up to deliver outstanding performance across various platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Dive into this article to discover how KCD2 performs on different systems and explore the customizable settings available to players.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Performance Tested Across All Platforms

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s performance across various platforms is promising, as evidenced by multiple tests and reports. On PlayStation and Xbox consoles, KCD2 runs smoothly at both 30fps and 60fps, showcasing the game's efficiency. Additionally, KCD2 is set to leverage the PS5 Pro's advanced capabilities, enhancing the game's visual fidelity. The game's photo-realistic visuals set it apart, especially since it utilizes CryTek’s CryEngine, a less commonly used engine in modern gaming.

Continuing from its predecessor, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 (KCD1), KCD2 employs CryEngine. Warhorse Studios chose to stick with this engine due to their familiarity, allowing them to push the boundaries and refine the game's features for the sequel. PC Gamer highlights that CryEngine uses old-school rendering techniques, focusing on performance with limited shaders and basic lighting. Despite this, KCD2 achieves stunning visuals through the use of physically based materials. Eurogamer points out that CryEngine’s sparse voxel octree global illumination (SVOGI) enhances the realism of indirect lighting, making elements like torchlight and metal reflections appear more lifelike.

PlayStation And Xbox Consoles Have 30 FPS and 60 FPS Options

On the PS5 and Xbox Series X, players can choose between two modes: a fidelity mode at 30fps with a 1440p resolution, and a performance mode at 60fps with a 1080p resolution. The Xbox Series S, however, only supports the fidelity mode. In contrast, the PS5 Pro offers a single mode, running at 60fps with a 1296p resolution, utilizing PSSR upscaling to achieve a 4K output.

The fidelity mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X enhances the rendering quality, adding more detailed foliage and improved shadow casting across landscapes compared to the performance mode. This results in more visually stunning outdoor scenes and better ambient occlusion. The PS5 Pro takes this a step further by enhancing all aspects of the fidelity mode, delivering sharper images, superior ambient occlusion, and higher object quality, ultimately elevating the overall visual experience.

Upscaling Is Completely Optional For PC

For PC gamers, KCD2 offers optional upscaling features, allowing players to tailor their gaming experience to their hardware. PC Gamer notes that the upscaling options are limited to FSR and DLSS, with no support for XeSS on Intel cards, no sharpening options, or frame generation for additional graphical enhancements.

Despite CryEngine's focus on performance, running KCD2 at 4K with maximum settings can be demanding on GPUs. However, the game's graphics are highly scalable, with five quality presets available: low, medium, high, ultra, and experimental. This allows players to find the optimal settings for their system. KCD2 also provides a comprehensive guide to help players prepare their systems, detailing system specifications and requirements for CPU, RAM, GPU, and storage.
