Elden Ring is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 with its Tarnished Edition, bringing several new additions from FromSoftware's epic adventure. These include fresh character classes and new visual options for the spectral steed Torrent.
According to a Famitsu report, the "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" held in Tokyo on May 6 unveiled new details about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition. The presentation confirmed the introduction of two new starting character classes.
Translated by RPG Site, the two new classes are the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." While specifics appear limited beyond their names and visual designs, these armor sets are reportedly two of four new sets included in the Tarnished Edition. The remaining two sets can be acquired through gameplay. Additional new weapons and skills were also teased during the event.
For players devoted to their mount, the spirit horse Torrent will receive three new appearance options. This content will be part of the comprehensive Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which also bundles the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. FromSoftware confirmed this new content will also be available on other platforms as a separate DLC called the Tarnished Pack, which RPG Site notes will be offered at an affordable price.
The inclusion of new starting classes is a compelling addition, particularly fitting for players beginning fresh adventures on the Switch 2 who may want a different experience. This immediate new content provides additional incentive for veterans who have already extensively explored the Lands Between on other platforms.
Elden Ring continues to reach an enormous audience, having officially surpassed 30 million copies sold worldwide. This monumental achievement will likely grow further once the game becomes available on the Switch 2.
While confirmed for a 2025 release, no specific launch date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2, nor for the Tarnished Pack DLC on other platforms.
