EA Open-Sources Four Command & Conquer Games

Electronic Arts has made a significant move, releasing the source code for four classic Command & Conquer titles: Command & Conquer, Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer: Renegade, and Command & Conquer: Generals. Now available on GitHub under an open license, fans and developers can explore, modify, and enhance these beloved games.

This generous move extends beyond the source code. EA has also added Steam Workshop support for newer Command & Conquer games using the SAGE engine, including Kane's Wrath and Red Alert 3. This allows for easier creation and sharing of custom content, boosting community engagement and creativity.

While EA isn't actively developing new Command & Conquer games at this time, the franchise retains a dedicated and passionate fanbase. By opening the source code and improving modding tools, EA empowers this community to revitalize the series, potentially attracting new players and ensuring the Command & Conquer legacy continues to thrive.
