Diablo 3 Event Extension Denied: Community Outrage

Diablo 3's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, slated to conclude on February 1st, has sparked player requests for an extension. However, community manager pezradar has confirmed this isn't currently feasible, citing hard-coded event limitations and the impossibility of server-side adjustments.

This announcement follows another setback: the delayed launch of Diablo IV Season 34. Pezradar apologized for the disruption, explaining that a 24-hour notice necessitated a schedule change. The delay stems from issues with the automatic season scheduler that prematurely ended Season 33 in early January. The team is developing new code to ensure smoother seasonal transitions, prioritizing the safe transfer of player progress. Improved player communication regarding future delays is also planned.

Separately, Wolcen Studio has revealed Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st. Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as blending "the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," hinting at influences from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. The studio eagerly anticipates player feedback as players assume the role of a Death messenger striving to restore order to a ravaged world.
