With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled a suite of accessibility features designed to enhance the gaming experience for a broader audience. One of the standout features is the ability to adjust Game Speed, which allows players to slow down the action during intense moments. This option lets you tailor the speed of gameplay from 100% down to 75%, 50%, or even 25%, making it easier for players who might feel overwhelmed by the game's high-pressure scenarios.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, explained that the Game Speed feature is particularly beneficial for those facing challenges during encounters with hordes of Freakers—a key element of Days Gone's gameplay. With the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this feature aims to make the unique combat experience more accessible.
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will include a variety of other accessibility options. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode that can be adjusted to suit individual preferences, UI Narration for better navigation, and Collectible Audio Cues to help players locate important items. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, previously limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Bend Studio also announced that most of these new accessibility features will be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features like feedback and customization control options will require a compatible controller to fully utilize.
Announced back in February, Days Gone Remastered promises not only enhanced accessibility but also new gameplay modes like an improved photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. This remaster of the beloved 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game centered around a biker's journey is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Players who already own the PS4 version will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 remastered version for just $10.
