Concord: A Hero Shooter with a Post-Launch Roadmap

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Launching August 23rd, Sony and Firewalk Studios' Concord is a hero shooter eschewing the traditional battle pass model. The developers have unveiled a post-launch content roadmap, focusing on regular seasonal updates instead. This commitment ensures a continuously evolving experience from day one.

Concord's Content Strategy: Beyond Launch Day

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Game Director Ryan Ellis emphasizes that launch is merely the beginning. The roadmap promises a steady stream of new content, including characters, maps, game modes, story expansions, and features. The decision to skip a battle pass is intentional, prioritizing rewarding gameplay through account and character progression. Rewards are earned through play, leveling, and completing objectives.

Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Concord's first major update, "The Tempest," arrives in October. This season introduces a new Freegunner character, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, cosmetic items, and rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will enrich the narrative surrounding the Northstar crew. An in-game store will also debut, offering purely cosmetic items with no gameplay impact.

Season 2 and Beyond

Season 2 is slated for January 2025, demonstrating Firewalk Studios' dedication to consistent seasonal content releases throughout Concord's first year.

Optimizing Your Concord Gameplay

Concord Season 1 Launches October 2024Ellis also shared strategic gameplay tips. Concord's "Crew Builder" system allows for team customization with five unique Freegunners, with the option to include up to three copies of a Freegunner's variants. This allows players to tailor their team to their playstyle and the challenges of each match. Diverse team compositions unlock Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon handling, and cooldown times.

Unlike typical shooter roles, Concord's Freegunners prioritize high DPS. The six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—are defined by their strategic impact on the match, focusing on area control, tactical positioning, and flanking.
