The Witcher 4: everything we know so far

The Witcher saga continues! Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red unveils the first trailer for The Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.

This next chapter shifts focus to Geralt's adopted daughter, Ciri, as she confronts a village's disturbing sacrificial ritual. The trailer hints at a complex situation, far more intricate than initially perceived.

While no official release date is set, considering the development timelines of previous titles (Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077), a three-to-four-year timeframe is plausible. Given this, The Witcher 4 is likely to be a current-generation console exclusive, targeting PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC simultaneous releases. A Switch port, while possible on a future iteration of the console (Switch 2), seems less likely.

The CGI trailer offers glimpses of gameplay, showcasing returning elements like potions, signs, and combat. A new addition, Ciri's magical chain, is particularly intriguing.

Although Geralt's presence is confirmed by voice actor Doug Cockle, his role remains unclear. The trailer suggests a mentorship capacity, adding another layer of anticipation.
