Hyper Light Breaker offers players an expansive array of options, including a diverse selection of characters known as Breakers. These characters are central to the battle against the Abyss King, each bringing their unique playstyles to the fray.

Unlocking new characters in Hyper Light Breaker is straightforward, yet the game doesn't explicitly guide players on how to do so. Here's a comprehensive guide on all available characters and how to unlock them, tailored for the early access version of the game. Currently, only two characters are unlockable upon release, but we'll keep this guide updated as more Breakers become available.

How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

To unlock new characters, players must collect Abyss Stones, which are exclusively dropped by the Crowns (bosses). Before facing these bosses, you'll need Prisms, which serve as keys to the boss arenas. Prisms can be located on the map by following the golden diamond icon.

After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost via the teleporter and choose the Breaker you wish to unlock. Use your Abyss Stones to make the character available for play. While there are nine characters in total, only two can be unlocked at this stage using Abyss Stones. The method for unlocking the remaining characters remains unknown for now.

All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

Each character in Hyper Light Breaker starts with a SyCom, which is crucial for determining their base stats and core perk. These SyComs significantly influence a Breaker's playstyle and are the primary factor in choosing which character to play. Below is an overview of each character and their unique playstyles.

Vermillion

Vermillion is the initial character players encounter, equipped with the Gunslinger SyCom by default. This SyCom provides a balanced stat setup geared towards ranged combat. A critical hit with his Rail shots guarantees a subsequent crit.

For those preferring melee combat, Vermillion can switch to the Tank SyCom, which enhances armor upon perfect parries and offers better defensive and melee stats than Gunslinger, making it a more secure choice.

Lapis

Lapis, like Vermillion, begins as a Rail-focused Breaker with the Lightweaver SyCom, which boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery. However, her Warrior SyCom sets her apart by increasing her core stats with each upgrade.

Lapis excels with both SyComs, but the Warrior SyCom makes her exceptionally powerful over time. With sufficient upgrades, she can surpass other Breakers in terms of raw stats, turning her into a formidable force.

Goro

Goro specializes in ranged combat, starting with the Astrologer SyCom, which accelerates the charging of Blade skills while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom directly increases his critical hit rate.

Goro fits the profile of a ranged glass cannon, boasting higher damage output than Vermillion and Lapis. Lacking a defensive SyCom, he can be challenging to master. However, with skillful play, Goro can become a highly effective combatant.
