Trump and Biden Removed from Marvel Rivals Mods, Nexus Mods Owner Faces Threats

Marvel Rivals has recently found itself at the center of controversy after Nexus Mods, a popular platform for game modifications, received over 500 mods in just one month. The situation escalated when Nexus Mods decided to remove modifications that replaced Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This decision stirred strong reactions among users.

The owner of Nexus Mods, known by the pseudonym TheDarkOne, addressed the issue in a private Reddit discussion. He explained that the mods featuring both Trump and Biden were removed simultaneously to prevent any accusations of political bias. "We removed the Biden mod on the same day as the Trump mod to avoid bias. But for some reason, YouTube bloggers are silent about it," he stated.

However, the fallout from this decision didn't end with the removal of the mods. TheDarkOne revealed that following the deletions, he and his team began receiving death threats and were subjected to various insults, including being called pedophiles. "Today we write death threats, call us pedophiles and all sorts of insults just because someone decided to stir up this topic," he added.

This incident is not the first time Nexus Mods has faced backlash over mod removals. In 2022, the platform took down a mod for Spider-Man Remastered that swapped out rainbow flags for American flags. At the time, the site's administrators made it clear that they supported inclusivity and would remove content deemed contrary to promoting diversity.

In concluding his comments, TheDarkOne expressed frustration over the ongoing controversy, stating, "We're not going to waste our time on people who think this is cause for uproar."
