System Shock 2 Remaster Reborn with a New Name Release Date Reveal Coming Soon

Nightdive Studios has officially rebranded their game as System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, giving a fresh coat of paint to this cult classic. This revitalized edition is coming to PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

The highly anticipated release date will be revealed on March 20, 2025, during the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase, preparing a new generation of gamers to experience this legendary sci-fi RPG.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 was a genre-defining masterpiece, seamlessly blending survival horror with deep RPG mechanics. This remaster promises to faithfully recreate that unsettling atmosphere while enhancing the experience with modern visuals and technical improvements.

Nightdive Studios, renowned for their work on the System Shock franchise, including the 2013 System Shock 2 remaster and the recent remake of the original game, initially planned to launch this project alongside the System Shock remake. However, unforeseen development delays shifted their release schedule.

Their 2023 remake was incredibly well-received, boasting a 78/100 Metacritic score, a 7.6/10 user rating, and an impressive 91% positive rating on Steam. With the System Shock 2 remaster on the horizon, the wait is almost over.
