Switch 2 Pre-Order Dates Set for U.S. and Canada, Priority Details Revealed

Pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 were originally scheduled to begin worldwide on April 9. However, due to economic disruptions stemming from tariffs imposed by former President Trump, Nintendo was forced to delay pre-orders in the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, pre-orders proceeded as planned in other regions, including the United Kingdom.

According to a FAQ on Nintendo's official website, the initial batch of invitations for pre-ordering through the My Nintendo Store will begin on May 8, 2025. There has been no information released yet regarding pre-orders at retail stores.

Nintendo has confirmed that additional batches of invitation emails will be sent out periodically until the My Nintendo Store opens pre-orders to the general public.

The initial invitations will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible registrants who meet specific priority criteria. Those invited will have 72 hours from the time the email is sent to complete their purchase.

To qualify for priority pre-order invitations, customers must meet the following criteria:
