Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will encounter various NPCs, leading to quests ranging from minor tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who requests activation of a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, completing it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

The "For Science!" quest begins by locating Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching triggers a radio call between Mongoose and Skif, prompting Skif to meet him. Inside the Central Elevator, proceed left, past the conveyor belts, and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose is on the first floor; vault the railing to reach him. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the mission upon acceptance.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

After the conversation, climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered and exit through a broken window. Descend the exterior ladder to the silo walkways. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the measuring device. Activating it alerts a group of Bloodsuckers. Players can choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

The Confrontation with Mongoose

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice impacts the game significantly. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse; choosing the peaceful option yields the pass and additional coupons. The pass allows entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
