Spider-Man 2 Hacked on PC Within an Hour of Release

The PC release of *Spider-Man 2* took place on Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures, making it impossible to hack the game prior to its launch. The straightforward reason behind this is the absence of a pre-order and pre-download option for the PC version, coupled with the hefty 140-gigabyte size of the game's distribution.

Despite these precautions, hackers managed to download and crack the game within an hour of its release. As anticipated, *Spider-Man 2* lacked any sophisticated defense systems.

Sony took a subdued approach to promoting the project, and the system requirements for *Spider-Man 2* were only disclosed a day before its PC launch. On Steam, *Marvel's Spider-Man 2* currently holds the seventh spot among Sony's biggest releases, trailing behind not only blockbusters like *God of War* and *Horizon* but also *Days Gone*.

Initial player feedback has been less than stellar. At the time of this post, the game has garnered a 55% positive review rating from 1,280 reviews. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.

In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to dominate as the top performer in the series on PC, once achieving a peak of over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can come close to matching its predecessor's record will become clearer over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If current sales trends hold, the game stands a good chance of achieving a satisfactory outcome.
