Sonic Rumble marks the series' first foray into multiplayer party gaming, allowing up to 32 players to compete across various levels and challenges. Sega describes it as an adventure where players control characters from the Sonic universe, navigating a toy world crafted by the notorious Dr. Eggman, filled with obstacle courses and perilous arenas.

As a free-to-play title, concerns about potential pay-to-win elements surfaced. However, in a reassuring statement to Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase clarified, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to just buy what you want quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that gives you a certain probability of obtaining items."

Following the announcement of the release date, Sega disclosed that Sonic Rumble has now surpassed 900,000 pre-registrations. Reaching these milestones unlocks in-game rewards, enhancing players' early experiences:

• 400K Pre-Registered: Happy Sticker
• 600K Pre-Registered: Crystal Chao Buddy

Although Sonic Rumble has not yet hit the final milestone, the target number remains undisclosed. Speculation suggests it might be set at 1 million or higher, a common goal in similar pre-registration campaigns.
