Kojima Productions and Sony thrilled fans at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas, by revealing the release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2). The panel, led by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima, kicked off with an engaging 10-minute trailer showcasing new story snippets and gameplay footage. This glimpse into DS2 reaffirms its focus on the theme of human connectivity amidst a post-apocalyptic setting.

Joining Kojima were PlayStation's Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, and key DS2 actors including Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to notice Neil's resemblance to Metal Gear's Solid Snake, especially due to the character's distinctive headband.
