Important Considerations:

Minecraft split-screen is exclusively available on consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch). PC players, unfortunately, miss out on this local multiplayer feature. You'll also need an HD (720p) compatible TV or monitor and a console that supports this resolution. HDMI connection is recommended for automatic resolution adjustment; VGA may require manual configuration within your console settings.

Local Split-Screen Gameplay (Up to 4 Players):

  1. Connect your console: Use an HDMI cable for optimal results.
  2. Launch Minecraft: Create a new world or load an existing one. Crucially, disable the multiplayer option in the game settings.
  3. Configure your world: Select difficulty, game mode, and world generation options. Skip this step if loading a pre-existing world.
  4. Start the game: Press the "Start" button (or equivalent on your console).
  5. Add players: Once the game loads, press the "Options" button (or equivalent – often the Start button on Xbox) twice to activate additional player slots.
  6. Sign in: Each player logs into their respective account to join the game. The screen will automatically split into multiple views (2-4 players).
  7. Enjoy!

Online Multiplayer with Local Split-Screen:

While you can't directly split-screen with remote players, you can combine local split-screen with online multiplayer. Follow steps 1-3 above, but this time enable the multiplayer option. Invite your online friends, and enjoy the game with a mix of local and remote players!
