Returning to this week’s mobile freebie, Shotgun King is a turn-based roguelike strategy game. Originally launched on PC in 2022 before coming to consoles and mobile, it reimagines chess with intense gunfight mechanics.

You don’t command an entire army—you control just the black king, armed with a shotgun. Every other piece has defected to the white side. In this chess-inspired battle, each run puts a lone king to the test: survive, reload, and fight back against impossible odds.

Each turn demands a choice: move the king or fire the shotgun. Shooting clears the weapon but uses up your turn, forcing the king to move again to reload before firing once more. On every floor, your goal is to avoid checkmate and eliminate the white king.

After completing a floor, you receive two random upgrade combinations—each pair grants one advantage to you and one to your opponent. Advancing through floors and navigating these trade-offs is the king’s desperate bid to reclaim his shattered kingdom after a devastating misstep and wounded honor.
