Gears of War: Reloaded Beta Expands This Weekend

Gears of War: Reloaded's upcoming beta weekend has been expanded in response to player feedback, offering more content and extended playtime, developer The Coalition announced.

"We heard you," the studio posted on social media. "More maps, more modes, more time to play."

Consequently, the multiplayer beta scheduled for this weekend has been extended—running from Friday, June 20 at 12 PM PDT through Sunday, June 22 at 9 PM PDT. Execution mode has also been added to the playlist, alongside King of the Hill on Gridlock, Raven Down (Courtyard and War Machine), and Canals. Social matchmaking will also support Team Deathmatch on those maps, with Gold Rush included as well.

While these additions may not completely resolve player concerns about server stability, that’s precisely what beta testing is designed to uncover. It’s better to identify and address these issues now, before the game’s official launch in a few weeks.

Last month, Microsoft confirmed that Gears of War: Reloaded—a remaster of the original 2006 title—will launch on August 26 for PC, Xbox, and, for the first time, PlayStation. This enhanced edition features upgraded visuals and audio, crossplay and cross-progression support, and includes all DLC previously available in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.

As a bonus for loyal Gears of War fans, players who purchased the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition prior to the announcement will receive Gears of War: Reloaded as a free upgrade. Eligible users can expect to receive a redemption code via direct message from Xbox ahead of the game’s launch.

"As we near the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise represents. It’s about the stories we tell, the friendships we build, and the moments we share. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that experience to more players than ever before," stated Mike Crump, studio head at The Coalition, at the time of the announcement.
