Gears of War: Reloaded Beta Weekend Expanded — More Maps, More Modes, More Time
In direct response to player feedback, Gears of War: Reloaded’s multiplayer beta weekend has been expanded, offering fans a longer, richer experience across a broader range of content. The developer, The Coalition, announced the extended beta window will now run from Friday, June 20 at 12 PM PDT through Sunday, June 22 at 9 PM PDT — giving players nearly three full days to dive into the remastered classic.
The expansion includes:
- New maps: Gridlock, Raven Down (Courtyard and War Machine), and Canals.
- New modes: Execution Mode joins the playlist alongside returning fan favorites like King of the Hill and Team Deathmatch.
- Social matchmaking now supports Team Deathmatch on all major maps, plus Gold Rush for additional variety.
"We heard you," The Coalition posted on social media. "More maps, more modes, more time to play."
While these enhancements don’t fully address lingering concerns about server stability, they underscore the purpose of beta testing: to catch and fix issues before the game’s official launch on August 26 across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation — the latter marking the series’ first appearance on Sony’s platform.
What’s New in Gears of War: Reloaded?
As a full remaster of the original 2006 hit, Reloaded delivers:
- Next-gen visuals and audio with upgraded textures, lighting, and sound design.
- Crossplay and cross-progression across all platforms — a major leap for the franchise.
- All DLC from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition included, ensuring a complete package.
Free Upgrade for Fans
Loyal players who purchased Gears of War: Ultimate Edition digitally before the Reloaded announcement will receive Gears of War: Reloaded at no additional cost. Xbox will send a redemption code via direct message in the coming weeks, giving fans a seamless upgrade path.
“As we near the 20th anniversary of Gears of War in 2026, we’re reflecting on what this franchise represents. It’s about the stories we tell, the friendships we build, and the moments we share. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we’re opening that experience to more players than ever before,” said Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition.
The extended beta is a clear signal: The Coalition is listening, adapting, and determined to deliver a polished, inclusive return to the war-torn world of Sera — not just for veterans, but for a new generation.
