"New RPG Blends Witcher and Persona Styles"

Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by former CD Projekt Red developers, has unveiled the cinematic reveal trailer for their debut game, *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. This open-world RPG, reminiscent of *The Witcher*, introduces players to a dark fantasy setting filled with morally gray choices and an outcast protagonist. The trailer, which debuted on January 13, showcases a mix of pre-rendered scenes and brief gameplay glimpses, setting the stage for the game's unique universe where the titular Dawnwalkers—powerful beings akin to vampires—take center stage. The protagonist, Coen, begins his journey as a Dawnwalker, facing the dilemma of embracing his new nature to save his family or holding onto his humanity.

Initially announced as *Dawnwalker* in January 2024, *The Blood of Dawnwalker* promises a narrative-driven experience with meaningful player choices. The reveal stream, hosted by Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco, highlighted the game's setting and introduced key elements, including the morality system that will influence Coen's path. Fans of *The Witcher 3*'s *Blood and Wine* expansion, with its vampires and tough decisions, will find the premise of *The Blood of Dawnwalker* intriguing.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Also Takes a Page From Persona's Book

While drawing clear inspiration from *The Witcher*, *The Blood of Dawnwalker* also incorporates innovative elements inspired by *Persona*. A key feature is the inclusion of time management mechanics, where every quest consumes time, and players must decide how to allocate it to save Coen's family. There is no clear distinction between main and side quests, encouraging players to strategize their approach. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, co-founder and game director at Rebel Wolves, emphasized that not all quests and story arcs can be completed in one playthrough, promoting replayability and a unique experience each time. This concept is dubbed a "narrative sandbox" by the developers.

*The Blood of Dawnwalker* is currently in development for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, with plans for it to be the first installment in a trilogy. Published by Bandai Namco, the game does not yet have a set release date, but with development starting in 2022 and a triple-A budget, a launch is not expected before 2027. Rebel Wolves has promised to share a gameplay reveal in the summer of 2025, keeping fans eagerly anticipating more details about this ambitious project.
