Robert Eggers, acclaimed for his gothic horror film Nosferatu, is set to direct and co-write a sequel to the beloved 1986 dark fantasy movie, Labyrinth. This exciting project, developed in collaboration with Sjón, his partner on The Northman, marks a new chapter in the Labyrinth saga originally brought to life by Jim Henson and starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Previously, a sequel was in development with Scott Derrickson at the helm, but it appears TriStar and Jim Henson Pictures have opted to move forward with Eggers' vision.

In Labyrinth, Jennifer Connelly embarks on a thrilling journey through a dark fantasy world to rescue her baby brother, kidnapped by David Bowie's iconic Goblin King Jareth. The upcoming sequel promises to delve deeper into this enchanting universe, captivating fans old and new.

Eggers isn't stopping at Labyrinth. He's also slated to direct Werwulf, a werewolf movie set for a Christmas 2026 release. This film will transport audiences to 13th-century England, featuring dialogue in Old English and, of course, a transformation into a fearsome wolf monster.

Nosferatu, Eggers' latest release, premiered last Christmas and is a chilling remake of F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film. Set in 19th-century Germany, it follows a young real estate agent's harrowing journey to Transylvania, where he encounters the sinister Count. The film has garnered significant attention, earning four Oscar nominations for Cinematography, Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling.
