Atlus made waves at yesterday’s Xbox Game Showcase with the official reveal of Persona 4 Revival, a full remake of the beloved RPG classic. While many fans have long hoped for such an announcement, the initial reaction to the 40-second trailer was mixed.

Some players expressed concerns over the visual presentation, pointing out issues with the graphics, color grading, animations, and lighting. Others voiced disappointment that no concrete details were shared—such as a release date or confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version.

"Man, the graphics look like stock Unreal Engine," one player commented. "Honestly, almost looks fanmade (don't hit me)." Another chimed in: "Highly underwhelming trailer, lol."

Given that rumors about a Persona 4 remake had been circulating for years, some speculated that the teaser was released primarily to confirm the project's existence rather than offer meaningful insight.

"This is a 'damn, here you go' ass trailer," one fan remarked. Another added: "Feels like they threw this thing together after the voice actors said they weren’t returning. I could imagine someone walking into marketing that morning asking for a quick 30-second clip."

Following the showcase, P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada took to social media to reassure fans, stating that Atlus is “actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio.”

“We are very pleased to announce the release of Persona 4 Revival. We look forward to sharing even more information in due time,” Wada wrote. “Persona 4 has inspired numerous spin-offs including TV anime, Persona 4 Arena, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Persona 4: Dancing All Night. It's a special title that has been close to Atlus—and personally to me—for many years.

“We are developing this project with all our passion and love. We believe it will deliver something fresh and surprising for both newcomers and longtime fans alike.”

Wada also emphasized ongoing efforts across the Persona franchise: “Additionally, we are actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio. We are working hard to meet the expectations of fans around the world, and our work is progressing well.” He concluded by thanking supporters and encouraging them to stay tuned for future updates.
