Rumors and fan theories about the PlayStation 5 Pro have been circulating throughout 2024, spurred by early leaks. The excitement reached a fever pitch at Gamescom 2024, where developers openly discussed the upcoming console. Some developers have even adjusted their game release schedules to coincide with the PS5 Pro's launch, according to Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.

Palumbo revealed a fascinating insight: "Without even being prompted, an anonymous developer mentioned they had received the specs for the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would perform significantly better on this new hardware compared to the standard PlayStation 5."

This aligns with a report from the Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which stated during a live stream that a developer had delayed their game's release to align with the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo added, "Given the information shared by Multiplayer, I'm certain this isn't the same developer. Additionally, the studio I spoke with isn't a major one, indicating that a broad range of game developers already have access to the PS5 Pro's specifications."

PS5 Pro Releasing Soon, Analyst Says

Adding credibility to Palumbo's observations and the developer insights from Gamescom 2024, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in July that Sony is poised to announce the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar suggested that the announcement could occur during a potential State of Play event in September 2024, indicating that Sony might need to act swiftly to prevent sales erosion of the current PS5 model.

This timeline mirrors the PlayStation 4 Pro's release strategy from 2016, where the console was announced on September 7 and released just two months later on November 10. Palumbo noted that if Sony follows a similar pattern, "an official announcement could be imminent."
