Pokémon GO's Upcoming Season Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax, Welcomes Morpeko
Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has dropped hints suggesting the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, initially featured in Pokémon Sword and Shield. This speculation follows the announcement of Morpeko's addition to the game.
Galar Pokémon and Form-Changing Battles
Niantic confirmed Morpeko's imminent arrival, highlighting its form-changing abilities during battles using Charged Attacks. This, coupled with Niantic's teaser of "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon" for the upcoming season, strongly suggests the introduction of Dynamax and Gigantamax. These mechanics, exclusive to the Galar region, drastically increase Pokémon size and stats.
"Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team," Niantic stated.
While specifics remain under wraps, the new season, starting in September following the Shared Skies season's conclusion on September 3rd, is widely anticipated to center around Galar Pokémon, fueling speculation about Dynamax and Gigantamax implementation. The possibility of other Galar Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash also joining the roster is exciting fans. Whether Power Spots, the original locations for Dynamaxing in Sword and Shield, will be replicated in Pokémon GO remains to be seen.
