Initial reactions to "Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" were mixed. Many dismissed it as visually dated, resembling a PS3-era licensed title or a simple mobile game. However, some remained hopeful, citing the lack of compelling "Game of Thrones" games as reason for optimism.

The Steam Next Fest demo, however, settled the debate. The game proved overwhelmingly disappointing.
