Palworld developer Pocketpair is finalizing its major crossplay update, slated for release in late March 2025.

In a recent X/Twitter post, Pocketpair announced that this update will enable multiplayer across all platforms and introduce world transfer functionality for Pals. No additional details were shared, except for a promotional image featuring Palworld characters battling a massive Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair’s Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at “a few small surprises” included in the March update.

This is exciting news for the 32 million players who have joined Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. Pocketpair has outlined an extensive 2025 content roadmap for Palworld, which includes crossplay, an “ending scenario,” and additional new content for the wildly popular creature-collecting survival game.

Palworld launched on Steam for $30 and was available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC a year ago, shattering sales and concurrent player records. Pocketpair’s CEO, Takuro Mizobe, noted that the game’s massive success brought in profits the studio struggled to manage. Riding this wave, Pocketpair partnered with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, a new venture focused on expanding the IP, including a PS5 release.

However, a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company casts a shadow, with claims that Palworld violates “multiple” patent rights, seeking an injunction and damages. Pocketpair has responded by identifying the contested patents and adjusting how players summon Pals in-game, seemingly in response to the allegations. The studio remains defiant, vowing to challenge Nintendo and The Pokémon Company in court, stating: “We will continue to defend our position in this matter through future legal proceedings.”
