The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the well-known Dark and Darker, have recently announced the cessation of support and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with high hopes, the game unfortunately struggled to maintain player engagement over its brief lifespan of less than a year. The primary reasons cited for the game's downfall include persistently low player activity and the absence of substantial updates to keep the community interested.
Although Dungeonborne remains visible on its Steam page, it has become elusive on the platform, no longer appearing in search results and only accessible via a direct link. While the official statement from the developers does not detail the exact reasons behind the shutdown, it's evident that the dwindling player base was a critical factor. By late 2024, the game's concurrent player count had plummeted to a mere 200, and in the final days, this number further dwindled to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, effectively marking the end of the game's journey. Despite its initial promise and the excitement it generated among fans of the genre, Dungeonborne will ultimately be remembered as a project that failed to reach its full potential before fading into obscurity.
