Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the way only an Ultramarine would—bolter in hand, chainsword revving, and more Chaos to obliterate. As the game hits this major milestone, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed an ambitious roadmap ahead, including a major September update and a full second year of content support. Read on for all the details about what’s coming to the acclaimed co-op shooter.
Space Marine 2 Announces Major September Update and Year 2 Content Plans

As Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 approaches its one-year mark, the battle rages on. The developers have officially confirmed that the game will continue to expand well into 2026, with a "large-scale update" scheduled for September and a full Year 2 of both free and premium content now locked in. This extended support comes as Update 9 shifts focus to balance improvements, while much of its originally planned content has been moved to the more substantial Update 10.
In a recent Steam community update, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment revealed their long-term vision: “We’re happy to announce that a second year of both free and DLC content included in a newly yearly season pass is on the way!” the developers shared. “Expect new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and… more.”
That “more” is shaping up to be a significant expansion of the game’s universe. Despite early development beginning on Space Marine 3, the team remains fully committed to evolving Space Marine 2 with meaningful updates, teasing a wealth of new features still under wraps.

The centerpiece of the anniversary celebration is Update 10.0, launching in September. This major patch will introduce a host of new content, including a highly anticipated PvP mode. Originally expected in the summer’s Update 9.0, the PvP mode has been delayed to ensure a polished and immersive experience.
This new PvP mode will break from tradition by pitting Chaos against Chaos on a brand-new map, diverging from the standard Loyalist vs. Chaos setup. Players will also gain access to the Helbrute—one of the game’s most formidable boss enemies—now fully playable. Alongside new Chaos armors, the Helbrute will wield the devastating Power Axe, complete with a unique moveset and execution animations. While only a work-in-progress model has been revealed so far, the weapon promises to deliver brutal, close-quarters combat.
Additionally, a new playable class is entering the fray: the Techmarine. Revered in Warhammer 40k lore as the Adeptus Astartes’ master engineers and battlefield technicians, the Techmarine is expected to bring support-focused abilities, such as repairing equipment and reinforcing defenses during combat. The class will be fully integrated into both PvE and PvP modes, offering strategic versatility across all game types.
Though full details remain under wraps, Saber and Focus plan to unveil more information in upcoming community updates, with deeper insights expected throughout July and August leading up to the September launch.

Looking ahead, Year 2 of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will follow the successful content model established in Year 1, blending free updates with premium DLC through a new annual season pass. Players can anticipate a steady stream of new missions, enemies, weapons, and gameplay enhancements rolling out over the coming months.
While Update 9.0 does not yet have a fixed release date, it is expected to arrive this summer, focusing primarily on gameplay balance and quality-of-life improvements. The spotlight will then shift to Update 10.0, where the full scope of the anniversary expansion will be revealed.
