The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller achieves full charge in nearly half the time of its predecessor.
As reported by Nintendo Life, Nintendo has disclosed the technical specifications for the enhanced $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, revealing a charging time of approximately three and a half hours when using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or USB-C cable. This represents a significant improvement over the original Pro Controller's six-hour charging duration.
Remarkably, this faster charging capability maintains the impressive 40-hour battery life that made the original Pro Controller legendary. The updated model also introduces several improvements:
- New C button functionality
- Additional GL/GR buttons on the underside
- Slightly reduced weight and more compact dimensions

Owners of original Pro Controllers need not worry about compatibility - Nintendo has confirmed the original controller will work seamlessly with the new console.
The Switch 2 received its official announcement during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct presentation earlier this month. While pre-orders were initially scheduled to launch in early April for U.S. customers, tariff complications prompted Nintendo to postpone the pre-order date to April 24. Despite this delay, the company maintained the $449.99 MSRP for both the Switch 2 console and its games, though most accessories saw price adjustments (the Pro Controller increased from $80 to $85).
