Nintendo Switch 2: Genki's CES Mockup Reveals Key Features

Genki, a prominent handheld gaming accessory developer, showcased a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing several key design features. This model, reportedly based on a black market unit, accurately reflects the console's dimensions and confirms several previously speculated details.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed the Switch 2's magnetic Joy-Con controllers, featuring SL and SR buttons that detach via a pin mechanism. Despite the magnetic connection, the Joy-Cons remain secure during gameplay. Furthermore, Tsai revealed the presence of optical sensors on the Joy-Con's mounting channels, suggesting potential functionality as mouse-like input devices, aligning with recently leaked images.

While larger than its predecessor, the Switch 2's slim profile allows it to physically fit within the existing Switch dock. However, structural differences render it incompatible. The purpose of a new "C" button and an additional USB-C port remain unknown.
