NieR: Automata Fishing Guide: Reel in Rewards and Riches
NieR: Automata offers more than just android-machine warfare. Explore a less violent side with fishing, a completely optional yet rewarding activity. While it won't boost your combat level, fishing provides a surprisingly efficient way to acquire rare items and quickly amass gil without the resource expenditure of combat.
How to Fish in NieR: Automata
Fishing is accessible whenever you're standing in any body of water, even shallow puddles! Simply stand still in the water; a fishing prompt will appear above your character. Hold the designated button to initiate fishing:
- PlayStation: O button
- Xbox: B button
- PC: Enter key
Once your Pod is cast, wait for a distinct "plop" sound indicating a bite. Don't reel in prematurely! The Pod must be fully submerged. Quickly press the reel-in button; you've only got a second to react before your catch escapes. Cast and recast as much as you like – there are no limitations.
A helpful plug-in chip displays a fishing icon in the top-right corner when you're near fishable waters.
Rewards from Fishing
The fish and junk items you catch are valuable commodities. Selling them is a safe and rapid method for early-game wealth accumulation, particularly beneficial for expanding your plug-in chip capacity. Fishing in sewers presents a chance to obtain the Iron Pipe, a potentially powerful weapon depending on your luck.
