In a world brimming with video games, finding something truly unique can be a challenge. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its compelling narrative and intriguing gameplay. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure offers a captivating story that sets it apart from the crowd.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is as fascinating as the game itself. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, wasn't originally a game designer. In 2020, he was establishing himself as a writer and filmmaker. A collaborative game project with a college friend ultimately fell through, but the core story remained.
Undeterred, Alameen embarked on a solo journey, teaching himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine to bring his vision to life. Even the game's title resulted from a collaborative brainstorming session with his wife.
Unraveling the Mystery: The Game's Story
The game plunges players into a captivating mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, brimming with secrets, puzzles, and unexpected twists.
Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old enigma: what happened to her father? The journey to uncover the truth is far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7000 years of Mesopotamian culture, My Father Lied masterfully blends ancient lore with modern storytelling. The gameplay features simple point-and-click mechanics, beautiful 2D visuals, and immersive 360-degree images.
