Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe, is set to make a thrilling transition to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU) with his portrayal of Lobo in the upcoming 2026 film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, boasts superhuman strength and immortality. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983 and is the last survivor of his now-dead world, much like Superman.

Momoa has expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating that Lobo has always been his favorite comic book character. He highlighted the aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo, which makes the role a perfect fit. In an interview with ScreenRant, Momoa teased fans about what to expect from Lobo's appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He mentioned being both excited and nervous about bringing the character to life, describing Lobo as "rough and gruff" and praising the design of the character's iconic bike. However, Momoa clarified that Lobo's screen time will be limited, as the film primarily focuses on Supergirl. He stated, "It's her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl in January, though it did not reveal much about the character. Gunn also announced via a post on Bluesky that filming had begun on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which stars House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.

The movie is heavily based on the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who recruits Supergirl to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. Matthias Schoenaerts plays Krem, while Eve Ridley portrays Ruthye. The cast also includes David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El and Emily Beecham as her mother.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026 and will be the second film in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman movie hitting theaters this summer. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026.
