Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Release Date Announced — And Yes, You Can Play as a Korok

Nintendo has announced a release date for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 6, 2025.

This sequel to Hyrule Warriors builds on the story briefly shown in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, with Zelda traveling back to the era of the Zonai. There, she’ll join forces with Hyrule’s earliest monarchs, including King Rauru and Queen Sonia.

If you’ve played Tears of the Kingdom, you’re already familiar with part of this tale — it’s the conflict against Ganondorf known as the Imprisoning War.

A trailer featured during today’s major Nintendo Direct above showcases the game’s powerful Sync Strikes mechanic, allowing two players to team up and unleash devastating combined attacks.

For two-player experiences, the game supports split-screen co-op if you have a friend nearby. Alternatively, multiplayer is available via GameShare, letting a Switch 2 or original Switch owner join in without owning their own copy of the game.

You’ll be able to play as Zelda, King Rauru, and Queen Sonia — and, brilliantly, as a heroic little Korok fighter. You can also harness Zonai devices to devastating effect, using wind and water to clear enemies.
