How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest unlocks automatically as you progress through blacksmith Radovan's quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. After recovering the lost cart, return to Radovan. He'll then reveal his plan to forge a wedding gift—a sword—which initiates the Hermit questline. Before confronting the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

Begin by visiting the Troskowitz tavern and speaking with Innkeeper Betty, exhausting all dialogue options. Afterward, talk to other villagers to gather additional information. In my playthrough, I spoke with the alehouse maid and the general trader.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, speak with Gerda in Troskowitz; she witnessed a relevant event. You can either offer her Groschen or attempt a dialogue check to obtain information. Then, head to Apollonia and speak with Stanislav. Again, a dialogue check or Groschen will be necessary.

Gather Evidence

With the information gathered, it's time to find physical evidence. Locate the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave (you'll need a spade; purchase one from the Troskowitz trader or find one in a cemetery). You'll uncover Groschen and documents related to the Knights of the Cross.

Examine the documents. Then, proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia, where you'll find a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Examine the horse for your next clue, preparing you to confront the hermit.

Talk to the Hermit

Go to the hermit's hut and speak with him. Without evidence, he won't be cooperative. Once you present the evidence, use these dialogue options: "You're suspicious," exhausting all subsequent dialogue about the clues; then, "Out with it!" He'll reveal his true identity as Konrad. Before giving up the sword, he asks you to speak with a widow, Margaret, and give her a cross.

Visit Margaret in the Apollonia cemetery, give her the cross, and optionally complete the Sinful Soul quest by helping her dig a grave. You can return to Konrad immediately if preferred.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Returning to the hermit's hut, you'll find Crusaders. You can choose to help them kill Konrad or help Konrad escape. If you choose to kill Konrad, it's easier than fighting the Crusaders. After killing him, speak with the Crusaders and consider returning the documents for Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

North of the hut, find two entangled oak trees where the sword is lodged. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
