Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on course for a Fall 2025 release. During the Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive shared insights into their current status and upcoming releases for the year.

Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed confidence in meeting the Fall 2025 deadline for GTA 6, though he acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, stating, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, Zelnick remains optimistic, saying, "We feel really good about it." He refrained from sharing specifics on GTA 6's development but emphasized Rockstar's commitment to perfection, adding, "I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."

Zelnick highlighted 2025 as a pivotal year for Take-Two Interactive, with a robust lineup of game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launched in Early Access today, with the official launch on February 11th, and we also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end," he announced.

Regarding the anticipated success of these titles, Zelnick stated, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company is highly confident about achieving record Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.

The Grand Theft Auto franchise continues to be a juggernaut for Take-Two Interactive, with GTA 5 selling over 210 million units worldwide. GTA Online also enjoyed a successful quarter, boosted by the holiday update Agents of Sabotage. Additionally, GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, experienced a 10% year-over-year growth.

Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also saw significant success during the third quarter. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, with increased player engagement reflected in a "Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%." Red Dead Redemption 2 sold over 70 million units and continues to grow its player base, especially with Red Dead Online updates like the fan-favorite Halloween pass. The game is currently at its peak concurrent player count on Steam, with 99,993 players according to SteamDB.

GTA 5 Actor Clarifies Stance on Character

Speculation has been rife among fans that Steven Ogg, the actor who plays Trevor in GTA 5, dislikes being associated with his character. In an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg set the record straight. He explained that the rumor about him hating Trevor is unfounded; he simply prefers not to be called by the character's name. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh," Ogg remarked.

He also praised Trevor, calling him "a great character" and "awesome." Ogg remains in touch with his co-stars Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), mentioning their recent reunion at a Comic Con event.

In a past interview with Screen Rant, Ogg humorously suggested Trevor could appear in GTA 6 only to be killed off early in the game. However, he confirmed he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and has no information on whether Trevor will return in the series.
