Fitness Boxing feat. Hatsune Miku Reviewed: New Releases, Sales, and Farewells

Author: Lily May 14,2025

Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the final SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 6th, 2024. While this marks the end of the regular SwitchArcade Round-Up by me here at TouchArcade, you can look forward to one more special edition next week featuring some embargoed reviews. I've enjoyed sharing these articles with you over the years, and though I wished to see the Switch's journey through to the end, circumstances lead me elsewhere. Today, we'll go out with a bang, featuring reviews from Mikhail and Shaun, summaries of new releases, and the usual lists of new and expiring sales. Let's enjoy this last ride together!

Reviews & Mini-Views

Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)

Imagineer's Fitness Boxing series has been a hit, and after the fun twist with Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, I was eager to see what was next. Enter Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU—a brilliant collaboration that merges fitness with the iconic vocaloid. Over the past few weeks, I've been putting it to the test alongside Ring Fit Adventure, and I must say, it's impressed me.

For newcomers, Fitness Boxing games blend boxing and rhythm game mechanics to deliver a fun and effective workout through daily exercises and mini-games. In this latest installment, Hatsune Miku adds her flair with a dedicated song mode, alongside the standard tracks. Keep in mind, though, this is a Joy-Con only game, so no Pro Controller or third-party accessories.

The game offers various difficulty settings, a free training mode, warm-ups, and tracking features that even work when your Switch is in sleep mode. Cosmetics are unlockable with points earned from playing. While I haven't delved into the DLC yet, I can say that the base game outshines Fist of the North Star in many aspects—except for one caveat: the main instructor's voice. It felt off and I had to turn it down.

Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is a solid addition to the series, appealing to Miku fans and fitness enthusiasts alike. It's best used as a complement to other routines rather than your sole exercise source.

SwitchArcade Score: 4/5

Magical Delicacy ($24.99)

Magical Delicacy by sKaule and Whitethorn Games caught my eye after a friend mentioned its Xbox Game Pass announcement. Playing it on Switch, I found it to be a blend of Metroidvania platforming and cooking games, though it feels like it needs more time to cook. The game's protagonist, Flora, is a young witch in a charming, mysterious world where you cook and craft for others. While the exploration aspect is well-executed, the backtracking can be frustrating.

The pixel art and music are delightful, and the game offers extensive settings, including UI scale and text options, enhancing the handheld experience. However, Magical Delicacy suffers from some inventory and crafting issues that could benefit from updates.

Despite its flaws, Magical Delicacy is a good game on Switch, but it could become essential with some quality-of-life improvements.

SwitchArcade Score: 4/5

Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)

The 16-bit era saw many companies jump on the mascot platformer bandwagon following Sonic the Hedgehog's success. Aero The Acro-Bat managed to secure a sequel, though it didn't quite make it big. Aero The Acro-Bat 2 is a polished experience, though it loses some of the charm of the original. It's still a fun platformer, despite its lack of lasting impact.

Surprisingly, this release features an upgraded presentation compared to Ratalaika's usual emulation wrapper. It includes box and manual scans, achievements, a gallery, jukebox, cheats, and more. However, only the Super NES version is included, missing the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive version. Fans of the original should definitely check this out, and the improved emulation makes for a better experience overall.

SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5

Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)

Metro Quester was a delightful dungeon-crawling RPG that I thoroughly enjoyed, and Metro Quester | Osaka feels like an expansion rather than a full sequel. Set as a prequel in Osaka, this new chapter introduces a wetter environment requiring a canoe for exploration, along with new characters, weapons, skills, and enemies.

The mechanics remain similar to the original, emphasizing turn-based combat and cautious exploration. For those who loved the first game, Metro Quester | Osaka offers more of the same enjoyable gameplay with new twists. New players can dive straight into this one for a satisfying experience.

NBA 2K25 ($59.99)

The latest in the NBA 2K series, NBA 2K25, boasts improved gameplay, a new feature called Neighborhood, and updates to MyTEAM. If you're considering this, note that it requires a hefty 53.3 GB on your memory card.

Shogun Showdown ($14.99)

For fans of Darkest Dungeon, Shogun Showdown offers a Japanese-inspired twist on the genre. It's a familiar style but executed well enough to pique the interest of those looking for another game in this vein.

Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)

As mentioned earlier, Aero The Acro-Bat 2 is a solid sequel with improved emulation. It's the Super NES version only, but it's a great pick for fans of the series.

Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection ($9.99)

Sunsoft brings back three previously non-localized Famicom games in this retro selection. A mix of genres, including a side-scrolling action platformer, an adventure game, and an action-RPG, this set is a must for fans of vintage games.
