Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by popular streamer Guy 'Dr. Disrespect' Beahm, has announced its closure after three years of operation. In a post on X, the studio shared the news, stating, "Today we are announcing Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three incredible years, with an amazing team of over 55 developers." They also reached out to other studios, seeking employment opportunities for their team members.
Founded by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, known for their work on games like Call of Duty and Halo, Midnight Society aimed to create a groundbreaking FPS game titled Deadrop. The game was intended to be a free-to-play title, capitalizing on the team's extensive experience. Despite targeting a 2024 release, Deadrop did not meet its deadline.

The studio parted ways with Beahm in 2024 following revelations that he had exchanged messages with a minor through Twitch's Whispers feature, which were deemed inappropriate. Despite this split, Midnight Society continued to work on Deadrop until its recent closure.
Deadrop was envisioned in a unique universe where "the 80s never ended." The game's visuals featured characters with Daft Punk-inspired helmets, wielding an array of weapons including guns and swords. The gameplay was designed as a PvPvE extraction shooter, promising a thrilling experience.
Midnight Society's closure adds to the growing list of studios affected by the challenging conditions in the gaming industry, which have also impacted companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, Phoenix Labs, and many others.
