Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer

The Hill Troll is concealed within a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. To reach it, the simplest route starts from the elevator in Lakeshire. Head down to Bahlgar as if you were preparing to fight Beastmen. Instead of engaging the Beastmen, stick close to the mountain wall and continue around it. Pass two platinum deposits and scan one of the mountain sides for the entrance to the Troll cave. You'll need to jump into this opening, ideally on a mount, to access it. It may seem tricky at first, but once you've done it, revisiting the cave becomes straightforward. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest

Despite its menacing appearance, the Hill Troll is one of the easier mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. You'll likely need to battle it repeatedly, so familiarizing yourself with its attack patterns is beneficial.

Avoid fighting the Hill Troll solo. Its attacks, though slow and powerful, are predictable and dodgeable. Team up with at least one other player, as many enjoy farming the Troll. After defeating it, it respawns in just 90 seconds.

The Hill Troll wields a giant pillar for its attacks. You can parry and block all but one move—where it raises the pillar overhead, signaling a stunning attack. You can also stagger the Troll with enough damage. If you're playing as a Warrior Class, a well-timed Counter can stun the Troll.

While the Hill Troll can drop rare equipment, focus on farming Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are essential for crafting solid endgame equipment, though not the top tier, it's sufficient for facing tougher foes like the Mother Spider.

The Troll Head is a Quest item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. You can hand it over to Hodor, near the cave, every hour for a chance at random, potentially overpowered loot. If you're farming the Hill Troll, this quest is a must.

Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?

No, you cannot tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer, even as a Beast Tamer Archer. As a mini-boss, the Troll is too large and cumbersome to serve as a pet. Moreover, it's doubtful the Troll could navigate out of its cave. Stick to taming more manageable creatures like the Mud Crab if you're a Beast Tamer Archer.

That’s all there is to it. Enjoy battling the Hill Troll repeatedly and securing some great loot. For more endgame guidance, explore our Essential Rune Slayer End Game Tips.
